Your Majesty, Your Majesties, Your Highness, President Roc, Ladies and Gentleman,
In honor of the Olympics, I’m handing out gold medals for music tonight and ZZ Ward and Mariachi El Bronx both get one! Doesn’t matter that I have no authority to hand out gold medals… this is all in pretend-land anyway – me pretending like my taste in music is worth sharing, my friends pretending like they actually read our blog… but in pretend-land, ZZ Ward and Mariachi El Bronx get gold medals! And more than 10 people read our ramblings on a daily basis! Yay for them! Yay for us! Yay for you for being one of the lucky few to hear the AWESOME tracks below!
If you like blues music and feisty women with strong voices and strong women with feisty voices and people from Oregon, you’ll like ZZ Ward. If your thing is mariachi music with a punk twist, you’ll like Mariachi El Bronx. I happen to like both. Let me know if you do too.
“Put The Gun Down” by ZZ Ward (from her Criminal EP)
“Revolution Girls” by Mariachi El Bronx (from their album Mariachi El Bronx (II))
Happy Olympics, everybody!
